Crisis
On November 8, 2013, Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), the strongest tropical cyclone ever recorded, made landfall in the Philippines. The storm caused massive devastation across the Visayan Islands, killing at least 6,300 people and affecting more than 14 million, many of whom were left homeless.
Campaign
AirAsia launched a group-wide humanitarian campaign to support relief transportation needs and to raise funds for rehabilitation of affected areas. With your support, we responded with our largest matched funding campaign to date, covering the following initiatives:
- Humanitarian flights between Manila and Tacloban
- Donation boxes onboard all AirAsia flights and at AirAsia airport counters

Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is a humanitarian organisation founded in 1947 to provide quality life-saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations. At present the PRC provides six major services namely Blood Services, Disaster Management Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Social Services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. The fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement are humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality.
