It was an occasion to celebrate amazing women of the Philippines and the amazing men who work with them as we gathered in Manila to present our social enterprise award to Rags2Riches (R2R). Joining R2R Founder and President Reese Fernandez-Ruiz, were members of her team and senior artisans from the social enterprise’s 800-strong network. Presenting the award to Reese were AirAsia Philippines CEO Marianne Hontiveros, AirAsia Foundation Chairperson Atty. Katrina Legarda and AirAsia Foundation Executive Director Yap Mun Ching.

Other than a grant to train an additional 100 artisans and create new products, AirAsia Foundation also piloted a new initiative with R2R to enable the sale of social enterprise products on AirAsia channels. As part of the grant programme, two exclusively designed R2R for AirAsia Foundation bags were made available onboard AirAsia flights from July 2013.
