Grant Application

“Social Enterprises are businesses that trade to tackle social problems, improve communities, people’s life chances or the environment. They make money from selling goods and services in the open market but reinvest their profits into the business or the local community.”
– Social Enterprise UK.

Grant Application

At AirAsia Foundation, we believe in the power of innovation to create lasting social and environmental impact. Our grants are designed to help Asean-based and Asean-led social enterprises, organisations and community groups grow their businesses and initiatives, ensuring they continue making a difference.

We welcome applications from social enterprises, organisations or groups with a strong track record in creating positive change. If you’re working on a project that is impactful, innovative, and community-driven, we’d love to hear from you!

Focus Area

We look for businesses or projects that bring long term benefits to communities and the environment, with a special consideration for sustainable travel and climate resilience projects. However, we also consider other high-impact initiatives. Your project should:

  • Clearly define a new initiative or the expansion of an existing one, with achievable goals within 12 months.
  • Use funding for purposes such as, but not limited to, developing and marketing new products or services, training community members, or purchasing assets to support expansion. Please note that we do not fund operating cash flow, land purchases or building acquisition.
  • Demonstrate how the investment will help generate income to sustain your business or enable the continuity of your initiative beyond the grant period.

Grant Benefits

  • Funding of up to USD 20,000
  • Opportunity to access to AirAsia’s vast network to help amplify your impact
  • Pro bono support, depending on your organisation’s needs

If you’re passionate about creating real change in your community, we encourage you to apply! Let’s work together to build a better, more sustainable future for Asean.

Tip: Review our past and current grantees to better understand the types of projects we support.

Application Guidelines.

Our main criteria for selection are:

Guideline_icon_1

Impact on intended beneficiaries

We would like to know about your social or environmental objectives and how your enterprise is meeting your goals. Tell us about your communities and how they will be impacted.

Guideline_icon_2

Innovativeness of the approach

We are interested to know how your social enterprise stands out from others. Are you applying a new approach or are you creating a product or service with a unique selling point?

Guideline_icon_3

Sustainability beyond the funding period

An important criteria we look out for is the ability to continue after the funding period. Tell us how our grant can help you generate income that can be reinvested into growing your business or enable the continuity of your initiative beyond the funding period.

Ability to tap on AirAsia’s strengths

Other than grant funding, is there any other way you can leverage on the AirAsia network to further your objectives?

In addition to the criteria above, we also look out for

Location, location, location

To enable us to promote your social enterprises to our guests, we prioritise social enterprises that are based in a village/town/city that is within reasonable reach of an airport served by AirAsia in Asean.

Track record

We will only fund organisations that are managed competently through accountability, cost-consciousness and effective leadership.

Volunteerism

As far as possible, we would like to engage AirAsia Allstars in the Foundation’s work. If your organisation has programmes for corporate volunteers, we would like to know about them.

Here’s an outline of our assessment steps.
