Crisis
The monsoon floods of December 2014 – January 2015 were the worst to hit the country in over four decades. Four states in northeastern Peninsular Malaysia were affected, including parts of Sabah and Sarawak, in Borneo, causing displacement of over 200,000 people.
Campaign
A Malaysia-based campaign was initiated to provide free flights and cargo transportation for relief workers and emergency aid. In the second phase of the campaign, fund-raising was undertaken by AirAsia Berhad and AirAsia X Berhad.

Lead Partner
MERCY Malaysia is a non-profit organisation focusing on providing medical relief, sustainable health-related development and risk reduction activities for vulnerable communities in crisis and non-crisis situations, in Malaysia and abroad. MERCY Malaysia upholds the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOS in Disaster Relief. The organisation is mainly reliant on public donations to ensure independence and impartiality. Eighty percent of its income goes into carrying out relief operations and support.
